Biography

Pianist and composer Marlies du Mosch is mostly known for her work behind the scenes. She wrote all the music for the then Poet Laureate Ramsey Nasr, after he heard a demo of one of her songs. He was completely amazed and asked her to put his entire works to music. Legendary producer and composer Piet Souer then introduced her music to the famous Metropole Orchestra. A national event followed, resulting in a sold out Paradiso Amsterdam. Bob Zimmerman (composer of the movie soundtracks for De Avonden, Tirza and De Nieuwe Wildernis) was one of the arrangers of the orchestra and spoke highly about the "wonderful music" Marlies had written for Ramsey Nasr. During the COVID-pandemic in 2020 Marlies du Mosch had to cancel the release of her debut solo album Tale of a City. The uncertainty, the urge to let her fans hear new music and the hope that her music might sparkle some hope during the pandemic, was the reason she started releasing one song each month. Her music got in several worldwide playlists and her debut album is streamed more than a million times. The release of her album in 2021 received critical acclaim by Dutch newsmedia, radio and television. In February of 2024, Du Mosch released her second solo album Inside/Outside.
