Air Chrysalis is a two-piece visual and sonic culture-jamming art project, informed equally by the analog dreamscape of hauntological retrofuturism and emerging niche aesthetic technologies. The duo released their debut full-length Miniature Comet in 2022, which LEO Weekly called an "ethereal masterpiece," with a "kaleidoscopic sound that leans into striking shoegaze and hazy groove-heavy pop." Their latest, 'Eliza and Parry,' expands on this sound through a sweeping concept album, featuring guests Lacey Guthrie and Phourist & The Photons. Named after the two early versions of chatbots from the '70s, one an empathetic Rogerian psychotherapist and the other a sophisticated paranoid schizophrenic, ELIZA and PARRY were nascent yet groundbreaking tools in the development of early machine learning. This record represents the ambience and tenor of this dialogue through a dozen songs split between the imagined artificial experiences of both Eliza and Parry, and its larger implications with humanity.
