Manuel De Sica was an internationally acclaimed composer has received numerous awards and recognitions over his forty-plus year career, including an Oscar® and a Grammy® nomination. Born to Vittorio De Sica and María Mercader, Manuel is the elder brother of actor Christian De Sica and the father of director Andrea De Sica, from his marriage to film producer Tilde Corsi. In 1968, he made his debut as a film composer with the score for "Amanti," directed by his father. He composed the music for the television series "FBI - Francesco Bertolazzi investigatore," starring Ugo Tognazzi.. "Io e Dio," Pasquale Squitieri's directorial debut, "Cose di Cosa Nostra" directed by Steno, and "Io non vedo, tu non parli, lui non sente" by Mario Camerini. His collaboration with his father continued with scores for films like "Il giardino dei Finzi Contini" (earning him Oscar® and Grammy® nominations), "Lo chiameremo Andrea," "Una breve vacanza," and "Il viaggio". In 1974 he directed "L'Eroe," in which his father starred. Important collaborations with Dino Risi, his son Marco, Carlo Verdone, Enrico Oldoini, Carlo Vanzina, and many others, including his brother Christian. In 1989, Manuel De Sica was awarded the Foreign Press Golden Globe for the soundtrack of "Ladri di saponette" by Maurizio Nichetti. In 1992, he won the Silver Ribbon for "Al lupo al lupo" directed by Carlo Verdone, followed by the David di Donatello in 1996 for the soundtrack of "Celluloide" by Carlo Lizzani.
