REINIER ELIZARDE "EL NEGRON": Today we want to make special mention of a Cuban musician who has positioned himself as one of the most respected and sought-after figures in the current Latin jazz scene. His work (apparently anonymous) is linked to making great names on the international jazz scene alongside those who have shone for his extraordinary talent and instrumental dominance. We refer to the outstanding bassist Reinier Elizarde, whom everyone knows as "The Negron". The trajectory of this exceptional bassist and double bass player began in his native Cuba after a solid academic training in the main music schools of the country such as the National School of Arts (ENA) and the ISA Higher Institute of Art where he graduated as a Bachelor of Music - Instrumentalist and Double Bass Teacher. His professional career on the island was developed as a member of various groups, among which stand out the renowned group Irakere under the direction of maestro Chucho Valdes, with whom he recorded the album “La Rumba Soy Yo”; Maraca and another vision directed by the prominent flutist Orlando Valle (Maraca) with whom he performed at various jazz festivals in Europe, Canada and the United States. He was also part of the popular music orchestra Pupy and those that are are by the pianist and composer Cesar Pedroso (Pupy). He has worked with other renowned musicians such as, Avishai Cohen, Anat Cohen, Dave Murray, Paquito D Rivera, Dave Liebman.
