Biography

The vocal ensemble Gregoriana was established in the autumn of 2004. Since then, its members regularly perform at masses in Latin (Novus Ordo) in the St. Elisabeth’s cathedral in Košice, Slovakia. The repertoire of the ensemble, besides Gregorian chant, consists mainly of the renaissance and medieval polyphony, but also contemporary church choral works. In addition to performing at the liturgy, the ensemble performs at concerts, mostly in Košice and nearby regions. The ensemble’s members are amateur singers with singing experience from other choirs. The head of the ensemble is Marek Klein (1969). He has been interested in Gregorian Chant since 1992. Besides self-study and liturgical praxis, he attended several courses and events connected with Gregorian chant under the guidance of personalities such as Jiří Hodina, David Eben, Louis-Marie Vigne, Alberto Turco, Nino Albarosa, and Dom Yves-Marie Leliévre. He also participates in organising events of this kind.
