Andrew Brel was born in 1960 in Johannesburg to Greek parents, growing up in South Africa during the apartheid years before emigrating to England at the age of 24. After 29 years in London working as a musician, producer and author, Andrew moved to California. Since his first paid gig aged 15 in 1976 with his garage band, HOBO, he has worked professionally in music. Initially he worked as a solo entertainer, performing thousands of gigs as a ‘one-man-band’. In 1989 he started his first label, producing a number of quality recordings working with many of the world’s finest musicians. In 2001, he began exploring a lifelong interest in healing meditation music. Using the studio as an instrument, the albums incorporate new age compositional techniques including binaural beats, solfeggio frequency music (a mathematically considered consistent resonance) and isochronic tones (motions and vibrations occurring at the same time, equal in duration). Since 2001, Andrew has released 12 albums of this musical style, including three albums with legendary Scottish musician, Hugh Burns. CALM is the title of his twelfth album, released in 2021.
