Free. Freedom. Improvisation. Divergent Fractals is a work that breaks down the barriers of sonorities. This duo based in Porto (Portugal) brings a strong concept rooted in the experimental/improvisational line, carefully developed with a lot of creativity and performances that range from the subtleties of minimalism and dark ambient to the most energic and dense noise sounds. Since early 2018, guitar and synths player Johny Murata (Lumina Project) and drummer and percussionist Sérgio Vieira walk together the path of musical freedom. With traces of the most distinct influences in his approach (such as free jazz, classical music, noise music, progressive rock, avant-garde, fusion and Brazilian music), this peculiar characteristics duo presents a totally improvised and exploratory work, like recorded on Rough Ground (album released on December 2019 in trio formation with bass player João Próspero as guest) and also on “The Black Box Sessions” video series. Divergent Fractals is a project to create and explore sound environments and atmospheres in real time, improvised by two musicians who seek the extreme of musical expressiveness.
