Coming on the scene with a throwback style that betrayed his years, Dallas-based rapper Blaq had just turned 15 when he spent 2011 making his name through the freestyle/cipher/battle circuit of his hometown. Born Chris Douglas, Blaq taught himself to play the drums by the age of 10. Then, after learning to compose songs in a variety of musical genres, he began studying the art of rhyme. Influenced by the styles of artists such as Nas, Rolling Stones, Snoop Dogg, and Lil Wayne, Blaq soon developed a reputation for delivering jaw-dropping freestyles in Dallas. His debut mixtape “Nostalgia” became his breakthrough when it was released in 2015, earning plenty of attention and landing Blaq a Production agreement with the production team from Danger Room Studios. Danger Room Studios re-released his debut EP as well as the follow up Mixtape “Juice” the summer of 2016. The year 2017 showcased Blaq’s hit making potential as he prepares to drop his debut EP. As Blaq’s Star power grows he stays in the studio or on the stage honing his skills to be a force to reckon with. “You can’t teach hunger, you gotta be able to motivate yourself to be the greatest.” says Blaq with only a few years of experience as a M.C. “I want everybody to feel my music no matter who you are or where you at I want you to be able to hear and get something out of it.”
