What If

Biography

In October of 2019, STNFXCE released his debut single “What If” that amassed over 10,000 streams on Spotify. This comes from his ability to seamlessly draw upon his ample bass proficiency and years of jazz training to produce unique sounds and stimulating experiences for his listeners. He started his musical journey at Chicago High School For The Arts (ChiArts) walking the halls with other notable alumni such as R&B singer Ravyn Lenae and jazz vibraphonist Joel Ross. It was at this school that he was first exposed to the bass at the age of 14 and was very reluctant to play bass due to originally being a guitar player. However, he quickly fell in love with the bass and by age 18 he played with renowned jazz musicians such as Antonio Hart, Gerald Clayton, Herbie Hancock, Bobby Broom, Bobby Watson and Lisa Henry. With these experiences under his belt, STNFXCE eagerly continued his music studies at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Jazz Bass performance after studying with world renowned jazz bassist, Larry Gray. STNFXCE is not only an accomplished instrumentalist; he has also produced his own projects as well as provided production and instrumentation for local Chicago artists.
