Biography

Jesse Bowman Bruchac offers listeners a wholly unique, Lo-fi fusion of fipple flute, guitar, bass, piano, hand drum, rattle, and vocals. He's been featured at the Clearwater Festival, Old Songs, the Dance Flurry and many other folk festivals over the last three decades. He has shared the stage with Joanne Shenandoah, Bill Miller, and Kevin Locke, performed at Woodstock ’94, and as a member of the Dawnland Singers opened for The Grateful Dead and Bob Dylan. Jesse has also worked extensively in television, film, and radio, scoring original music for National Geographic, Carnival Films, Discovery Channel, The Science Channel, Fox Entertainment Group, AMC, PBS, and BBC Radio 3. In the early 90s Jesse gained fluency in the Eastern Algonquian Abenaki language, learning it directly from the last generation of first language speakers. Use of his original music has been a primary driver of thriving community based language reclamation. My music reflects the raw beauty, natural balance, and imbued wisdom of nature that is inextricably woven into Indigenous cultures, languages, and instruments. When we slow down and listen, they remind us of our inescapable connection to one another and of our Sacred Responsibility as humans to respect and care for our shared mother the Earth.
