Mikel Toms has conducted Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, London Chamber Orchestra, Hong Kong Philharmonic, Oslo Sinfonietta, Ensemble Modern, Brno Philharmonic, Janáček Philharmonic, City of Prague Philharmonic, New Prague Sinfonia, Kazakhstan State Symphony Orchestra, Uralsk Philharmonic, Czech Film Orchestra and Elision (Australia’s contemporary music ensemble). Since 2019 he is Resident Conductor of the Symphony Orchestra of India in Mumbai. He has recorded over 40 albums for labels including Sony BMG (world premiere of Philip Glass’s Saxophone Concerto), Decca, Métier, Quartz and ABLAZE. Mikel is closely associated with the Brno Philharmonicin the Czech Republic, with whom he has made over a hundred recordings of contemporary and classical repertoire. He has recorded over 80 new works for orchestra and has collaborated with composers including Iannis Xenakis, James Dillon, Michael Finnissy, Karlheinz Stockhausen and Harrison Birtwistle. https://www.mikeltoms.co.uk/biography
