Originally from the industrial town of Huddersfield, U.K., but now residing in Hong Kong; LIIYO is a pop singer cut from a different cloth altogether. Being raised in a mixed race family, with roots in England, Ireland and Trinidad and Tobago, LIIYO has developed an innate taste for all kinds of music and that is reflected in the songs that he releases. Being brought up listening to RnB, Soul, Pop, Rock, Reggae, Soca and many other genre’s, LIIYO works hard infuse that with his love of KPOP to create a cocktail of sounds that really are not heard much in the western world. Originally starting out his music career as a lead singer in two pop groups, one of which was so close to become a fully fledged (and signed) KPOP group in South Korea, LIIYO has finally ventured out into the world of being a solo artist to bring his own flavour to the table. Never settling on a tried and tested formula, each track of his sounds like it belongs on the same album but explores different sounds, themes and meanings in an effort to never stay complacent and always keep his listeners on their toes. Having performed across the U.K. (ranging from Manchester to London), including Bar Wot at the Royal Vauxhall Tavern, Zodiac Bar and Village 512, as well as at Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park, LIIYO is really gaining some traction and it might not be long before you hear some of his music in the charts!
