Biography

Countertenor Daniel Sæther studied at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and the Royal Academy in Den Haag where he studied with Andrew King, Gordon Sandison, Michael Chance and Peter Kooij. He has performed as a countertenor in Norway and abroad since 2011, including concerts in Sweden, Spain, England, Vietnam and Brazil, and a wide-ranging repertoire from early music to contemporary. In Norway, he often appears as a soloist and ensemble singer, both on concert and opera. As the recipient of Statens Arbeidsstipend, a government grant, from 2018-2021, he has worked with contemporary music and documented the experience in concerts and recordings. In addition, he is a founding member of Ensemble Freithoff that consists of Caroline Eidsten Dahl, Vegard Lund and Helene Wold and Christian IV Consort, with Ingrid Økland and Caroline Eidsten Dahl. Daniel's debut solo album Unexpected Songs: Nordheim/Baden/Hovland/Karlsen came out in 2020. His second solo album will be released on September 09, 2022.
