Drummer and composer John Rae embarked on his musical journey at a young age. With a career spanning more than 40 years, his legendary live shows have seen him perform and work with artists as diverse as Art Farmer, Jamie Cullum, Ethan Iverson, Scott Hamilton, Lee Konitz, Vijay Iyer and Julián Argüelles. Over 70 albums later, John's accolades include BBC Jazz Albums of the Year and the coveted Herald Angel Award. From leading The Troubles to his stint with the Scottish National Jazz Orchestra, Rae's versatile artistry has left an indelible mark on the global jazz scene. He was the first Jazz Composer-in-Residence at Victoria University in Wellington, New Zealand, in 2010. Today, alongside Ben Wilcock, Rae is set to captivate audiences with his upcoming album Splendid Isolation.
