“When I play my violin, it’s like I have this tool in my hand that change the world. I really believe that when I play”, says Patrick Contreras, also known as ‘Violin On Fire’. “My music is meant to take you on a journey. I put my experiences into my music, joy, pain, love, passion, faith.“ The sounds Contreras creates is built from Latin rhythms, soulful grooves, fiery rock, funk and Blues. Violin in hand, Contreras evokes a diverse musical landscape from a search for tacos in Tijuana, to spicy grooves perfect for a Midnight In Miami, a heart wrenching cry of blues violin. “Each Song is a journey of its own” says Patrick. “When I write I let the music flow, trust what I’m feeling and try not to get in the way” ‘Rhapsody In Red” is Contreras’ most ambitious exploration yet. Working with producer Louie Lou of Reel Fonky Productions at his studio in Sanger, CA, they’ve carefully crafted 16 compositions that highlight Contreras’ unique violin style. They bring melody, rhythm and strings together in a way that is inextricable. Generating a sound Contreras calls “Street Fancy” defined by deep rhythms and groove, complex arrangements and sophisticated playing. “We have such different personalities and approaches,” says Contreras ”but in the end we have a strong balance. We’ve built trust and we respect each other, there’s a musical connection.”
