Alex Symcox studied contemporary classical music composition at the Royal Northern College of Music in the United Kingdom. While in the UK, he developed a passion for modern chamber and orchestral music, frequently composing, recording, and conducting new works. Notably, Alex won the Oxford Symphony Orchestra Composition Competition, earning his first public orchestral commission and performance. Alongside a love for classical music, Alex also shares a keen interest in electronic music. His remix of Gabriel Prokofiev’s “Float Dance” (grandson of Sergei Prokofiev) was chosen for release on the record label Nonclassical. Alex completed a Master’s degree in Scoring for Film and Multimedia at New York University. While in New York, he was selected for two ASCAP workshops, the Buddy Baker and Columbia workshops. Recently, Alex was awarded the prestigious Peer Raben Award in 2020 for “Best Music in a Short Film.” Today, Alex works with numerous creative clients collaborating on both independent and commercial projects, writing and recording music from his Brooklyn studio.
