Melissa Carter is a Lansing, Michigan born native who has 20 years of experience as a singer/songwriters and producer. Her roots from being a Baptist Preacher’s kid, blossomed into countless performances, a professional recording career.    Her influences and sound have been a culmination of several artists including: D’Angelo, Prince, Beyoncé, Solange, Erykah Badu, Chaka Khan, Aretha Franklin, James Brown, Sly & The Family Stone, Patrice Rushen, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, (EWF), Childish Gambino, Yolanda Adams, The Might Clouds of Joy, Canton Spirituals, OutKast. A melting pot! She has had countless performances throughout the state of Michigan as well as has appeared on The Voice and The X Factor. Melissa is known for working with the youth, through her very own virtual vocal coaching company, Vocal University. All while cultivating my own career in the process.
