Demonstrating his abilities at the piano, Gaspari quickly obtained a position as the master of the chapel in a province of Ferrara; eventually he acceded to the same position at Imola Cathedral. He was also the chorus master of the Community Theatre and taught vocal exercises at the Liceo. He did compose liturgical music but his import lies with his bibliographical work. "Catalogo della Bibliotecca del Liceo musicale di Bologna" had as its foundation Gaspari's "Zibaldone musicale".
