SYNTACT (Patrick Jonsson-Good) is an EDM artist from Vancouver, BC. Born in 1997 into a family of professional musicians living in the Okanagan Valley, his childhood was often spent on the road shadowing his parents on tour and learning the ropes of live music by immersion. This rich musical environment led him to an early exploration of multiple instruments and music theory. By fourteen, inspired by the EDM and dubstep wave of 2011, he began producing music and adopted the name Syntact three years later. Syntact's music is a unique fusion of EDM, jazz, early 90s hip hop, alt rock, and pop music. His tracks are known for their use of nostalgic jazz samples, massive synth chords, intricate yet evocative chord progressions, and the inclusion of unconventional instruments for EDM. Often compared to artists such as Pete Rock, Nujabes, Haywyre, and KOAN Sound, Syntact has established a distinctive presence in the EDM scene. After making a mark on the SoundCloud community of the 2010s, his talent caught the attention of UK-based label NoCopyrightSounds, who were responsible for scouting and hand-selecting his track 'Shallow' (and later 'Ego'), both of which have garnered over 6 million plays worldwide. Syntact has collaborated with notable artists like Au5, Just a Gent, and Aloma Steele, and amassed a loyal following of fans who keep their fingers on the bleeding edge of dance music innovation.
