Biography

Monterrey roots. Living a great Familia life in the suburbs. Writing, playing, and recording music with Austin's El Tule for the last sixteen years. Working at a dream job keeping folks supplied with semiconductors. Florida in the '90s was pretty fun pushing boundaries with the Rap/Funk/Metal trio "Salami Mommy". The self-titled EP was released in the summer of '97. The end of the decade brought about a different approach to music with the group Harvest Band that culminated with the album "Gathering Stones" and touring throughout the East Coast. All of them were learning experiences that led to launching El Tule in 2004 as an original three-piece playing anything and everything. Stepped up to the mic one day and never turned back. Found out unintentionally that music in Spanish seemed uninhibited and felt unpretentious. Since then it has grown into an original eight-piece Cumbia/Salsa/Merengue/Latin Jam institution in Austin, TX. A Mesa Boogie endorsed artist, feels equally at home in the studio or where Latin and Psychedelia meet on the dance floor. Known to listen to obscure Celso Piña/Allman Bros hybrid bands. The music industry experienced a complete restructure in '20. Challenge was turned into an opportunity and El Combo Oscuro was launched. It's what happens when alumni of Latin music institutions El Tule, Grupo Fantasma, and Del Toro mix it up with a veteran bass player from The Big Easy. https://elcombooscuro.bandcamp.com/releases www.eltuleband.com
