Scarborough-born NINA JVNE has been making a name in the music industry from her first song, “How It Goes,” released at 15 years old to her more mature work, such as “TRAPPIN”, she has always been a deep thinker who lets complex questions and thoughts guide her music. After enduring unimaginable instances of violence, trauma, death, and darkness at a young age, NINA JVNE pulled herself up, determined to maintain her music career. Although this was immensely difficult, music served as an outlet for emotions and experiences. A message she would love for fans to receive from her music is that “as tough as you might or might not be, it’s okay to have emotions but also important to put emotions aside sometimes and do what you gotta do.” Listeners can hear a myriad of different influences throughout NINA JVNE’s musical canon. She often credits her upbringing for shaping her as an artist and defining her sound. Her early musical influences are rooted in childhood singing in church and listening to dancehall, early 2000s hip-hop, and R&B tunes her mother enjoyed. She also spent a lot of time creating melodies on her grandmother’s keyboard. There was no turning back after these experiences ignited NINA JVNE’s passion.
