Born and raised in North Carolina, KingMel found and used rap as a way to stay out the streets. Although KingMel played sports, his heart has always been in music since his early childhood from making mixtapes in the closet of his bedroom to releasing numerous projects (From Nothing to Something & Franchise Tag). Music has been a way for KingMel to express himself and really let his guard down to truly be himself. In 2012, KingMel started his own label and clothing line called "Young Paper Chasers" better known as "YPC" and branded the label on the motto of "one eat we all eat". It's something that he truly believes in and it's the way he was raised. In August of 2017, KingMel teamed up with Miami rapper BZZY for their collaborative EP.
