Biography

The tenor Maximilian Mayer was born in Regensburg, Germany. He completed his exams at the Musical Lyceum of Regensburg Cathedral Choir (Regensburger Domspatzen) in 2010 and six years later completed his vocal studies under Peter Edelmann cum laude at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. In September 2015 he not only won first prize in the musicals and operetta at the Heinrich Strecker Cross-Over Competition but also the audience choice prize and the special prize for the best interpretation of a Viennese Lied. Earlier on during his studies, Maximilian Mayer could be heard at Schlosstheater Schönbrunn in Vienna as Alfred in „Die Fledermaus“ and as Ferrando in „Così fan tutte“ and as Rinuccio in „Gianni Schicchi“. Maximilian Mayer performed at the Baden Stadttheater, at the Klosterneuburg Opera Festival as Beppe in „Pagliacci“, at Semperoper Dresden as Fritz in Offenbach’s „La Grande-Duchesse de Gérolstein“, at Staatstheater Wiesbaden as Tamino and at the world’s biggest operetta Festival „Seefestspiele Mörbisch“ At Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz in Munich he made his debut in May 2015 as Valentin in the Hervé operetta „Le petit Faust“. Since the 2016/2017 season he is a soloist in the company of the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz, where he appeared as Tamino („Die Zauberflöte“), Camille de Rossilon („Die lustige Witwe“) and Ferrando („Così fan tutte“) among others.
