Biography

OE is an independent Hip Hop artist currently based in the Philadelphia area. Originally from Connecticut, he grew up in a house full of words & music, & spent his childhood pursuing a passion for both, in English classes & guitar lessons, choir & theater, writing & playing pretend. In high school, he fell in love with Hip Hop & began to see it as a means to synthesize numerous disciplines to create a unique path for himself as an artist. Known to “put to OE in poetry,” for his technical & lyrical intricacy & his vulnerable storytelling, OE sees poetry–with its multiplicity of forms, its connections to music & narrative, & its ability to marry writing with performance–at the core of his work, & believes not only that rap is poetry, but that there is poetry in everything. He began formally releasing music while in Boston, as a member of The Hip Hop Society at Emerson College, contributing to numerous releases. His first solo effort, The OE EP, came out in November 2019, & his song “You” was nominated for Outstanding Multi-Track Recording at the 2020 EVVY Awards. After a two-year hiatus during the pandemic, he returned in 2022 with the singles “Quarantine” & “Apocalypse.” In the summer of 2023, he created 50 Freestyles, a series on TikTok & Instagram in which he wrote, recorded, & released 50 original rap verses in 50 days, in honor of the 50th anniversary of Hip Hop. His first full-length project, The Wait List, is coming soon.
