American pianist, Jacob Nydegger, began his remarkable musical journey in his hometown of San Antonio, Texas, and has since garnered acclaim from numerous sources. As Theater Jones Journal observes, he is a "gifted performer with formidable technical skill," while Fanfare Magazine compares his "smooth, elegant power" to that of the legendary Van Cliburn. His commercial recording success is further complemented by his success in competition, claiming 1st prize at the 2022 Petroff Piano Competition and the 2021 Grand Prize Virtuoso Competition. He was also a top prizewinner at the 2021 William Knabe International Piano Competition and the 2019 Weatherford International Piano Competition, among others. As a consummate performer, Nydegger has graced prestigious stages both in the USA and abroad, performing as a soloist with orchestras such as the Lüneburger Symphoniker and the University of North Texas Symphony Orchestra. His international performances have taken him to illustrious venues, including London's Royal Albert Hall, Dresden Kulturpalast, and the Dresden Frauenkirche. Nydegger currently resides in Dresden, Germany as a Meisterklasse fellow and Deutschlandstipendium holder studying with Hinrich Alpers. He holds BM and MM in Piano Performance from the University of North Texas, where he studied under the mentorship of the late Joseph Banowetz. Additionally, he has also worked with renowned pianists such as Bernd Goetzke, John Novacek, and Jon Nakamatsu.
