Best known by his Mr. Kaplan moniker, Jason McClary has been making music for over 20 years. Prior to immersing himself in the audio world, he was a classically trained pianist residing outside of Boulder Colorado. He moved to Nashville in 2008 to pursue music full time. He runs his own commercial recording studio in Franklin, TN. Jason (Mr. Kaplan), was trained in Audio Mixing by the legendary Mixing Engineer, Dave Pensado. Ask him about his friendship with Dave and he will have many entertaining stories. He has produced and released numerous EPs', remixes, singles, songs for film and television, and a cover of New Order’s Blue Monday. Jason (Mr. Kaplan) is able to write in any genre of music, although he is best known for his own version of synth wave music. When you listen to his music, you will undoubtedly hear influences from Depeche Mode, The Pet Shop Boys, Erasure, Joy Division, and New Order. Having a creative mind takes him on many different audio paths. One day he will be writing classical music, and the next he will be writing Industrial Music. He is happiest when he is creating music of any kind. Jason (Mr. Kaplan) resides in Franklin, TN with his wife and Cookie the dog. In his spare time, he likes to collect vintage synthesizers and original Nintendo games.
