Italian violist Andrea Cagnin combines the extensive study of famous works by great composers with the discovery of forgotten, or little-known musical gems. Originally from Padua, he successfully completed his studies with L. Volpato at the Conservatory “A. Steffani” of Castelfranco Veneto (TV) in 2012. He continued his studies with P. Jüdt at the Bern University of the Arts, from which he graduated with a Master’s Degree in Music Performance and a Master’s in Music Pedagogy. He also attended master classes with A. Farulli, F. Kirch, D. Waskiewicz and others. He plays with numerous Italian and Swiss orchestras (Basel Sinfonietta, Sinfonie Orchester Biel Solothurn, Gstaad Festival Orchestra, Bern Chamber Orchestra, Orchestra di Padova e del Veneto, Orchestra Filarmonia Veneta, Orchestra del Teatro Olimpico di Vicenza, among others). Andrea has always had a great passion for chamber music and has performed with several groups in various formations. Since 2020 Andrea has been playing with the pianist Patricia Pagny across Switzerland, France and Germany. This duo offers concert programs combining the best-known repertoire with musical gems that have unjustly fallen into oblivion or are rarely performed in public. In 2022, the well-received duo released the album “Visages” with the recording label Stradivarius, and with the support of the association Tasti’Era-Projects, of Yamaha and Les amis de Georges Migot. Andrea is viola teacher at the Biel Music School (Switzerland).
