Biography

With his sensuous baritone vocals, Frank Ceara has risen to the upper echelon of Dominican pop music. His 1994 single, "Lluvia De Besos (Rain of Kisses)," was used as the theme song for the popular soap opera Amor De Papel, and zoomed to the top of the Latin American music charts. He received two Casandra awards in 1997 and an ASCAP Award for his ballad "Ednita." Ceara's romantic vocals have been attracting attention since the early '80s, when he was a member of a quartet, Emotions, directed by Molina Papa. Throughout his teens and early 20s, he sang on countless radio jingles and in the choirs of Juan Luis Guerra, Emmanuel, Olga Tanon, Serrat, and Celia Cruz. The lead vocalist for early-'90s Dominican rock band Empiphis, Ceara performed at the Expo in Seville, Spain, and the Festival of the Vine of the Sea in Chile. Since 1991, Ceara has performed often in duet with Audrey Campos. In addition to touring throughout Central America, Ceara has performed long engagements at the Capri Café, Hotel Santo Domingo in Hispaniola, and Music of the Gamon in Santiago. ~ Craig Harris, Rovi
