Givens is a singer-songwriter and record producer from Lagos, Nigeria with a sonorous voice and a desire to understand the human experience. Starting as a guitarist in his early teens, he found it easier to express his thoughts and convey his emotions through lyrics and melody transversing the border between genres and blending through various musical styles and influences. Givens started releasing music on SoundCloud and Audiomack in 2016 songs like "Storybook" and "These Nights" culminating in a 7-track mixtape titled "That's What she said" on which he featured Jake Doe with who he would become a frequent collaborator. In 2017 Givens opened for Morayo, and Johnny Drille. He also performed at the Lagos edition of the Make Music Day, Make Music Lagos 2017. Givens' sound can be described as a melting pot of genres ranging from R&B, soul to Afropop, Alt. Rock, Gospel, and Pop are all woven under the umbrella of impeccable descriptive songwriting and storytelling as he wants his listener to be drawn into the world he creates with his music and feels the emotions that he feels. His musical influences include Frank Ocean, Hozier, Ed Sheeran, Burna Boy, and Jon Bellion.
