Biography

Jo first got into music after watching Millie Small and Marvin Gaye perform on the Mod TV show, Ready Steady Go in 1964 and listening to her brother’s blues LP collection including John Lee Hooker and Muddy Waters. Jo’s illustrious DJ career began in 1976 round the back of a pub in Chatham and, after hosting her own Mod events from ’79, including putting on the Chords first performance at Borough Working Men’s Club, Jo became resident DJ in ’81 at the infamous Sunday night mod gig at Bogarts in Strood where a young Eddie Piller was in the audience. Now, in 2022, after a lifetime of running clubs - including the legendary 'These Old Shoes' - broadcasting, compiling CDs for Motown, Jo continues to DJ and broadcast on Totally Wired Radio with her ‘Run for Cover’ show, has an undiminished love affair with vinyl and runs five vinyl record labels, Ramrock, Ramrock Blue, Ramrock Red + Ramrock Retro and digital house label F*CLR, as well as producing tracks with Ashley Beedle and Darren Morris as the North Street West crew.
