Raised in Phoenix AZ, Ricardo Pompa loved a wide range of music from a young age. Exposed to such a variety in the early stages, an interest sparked into playing instruments. Joining the elementary school band, he started learning how to play bass. From there, he rapidly grew curious into how to sing and play guitar. One day, his dad came home with Linkin Parks' ‘Meteoria’ causing Ricardo to become increasingly infatuated with the idea of being in a band. Fast forward to the high school years where Ricardo began to connect with like minded individuals. This is where he learned more about the technical sides of music, sparking his interest in the production/engineering processes. After high school, Ricardo began pursuing knowledge in this field. This was the start of what would be ‘RICKYP’. RICKYP is a fuse of many influences that are derived from childhood interest up until the modern day. With his new project Cheap Thrills Make Steep Hills, the listener can hear the process of progress from the over all quality of the songs, to the performances on instruments and vocals.
