Born and raised on the coast of the Arabian Peninsula, calling Oman her home, the Indian Portuguese songstress’s multicultural and diverse background has carried her artistry and sound into the R&B space. Growing up in the Middle East, she was raised in an extremely musical home and attributes her music tastes to her father’s record selection of Motown hits and her mother’s radio player and cassettes echoing all day around the house. In middle school she discovered the 90’s/2000’s R&B scene through rebelliously known, file sharing software, Limewire. In 2022, she debuted her first EP “Letter’s I’ll Never write” which was highlighted in Wonderland and FADER. The project was a memoir of love, pain, growth, and grief, told through a minimalist pop-R&B lens, with time-stopping vocal dexterity emerging as the centerpiece. Channeling inspiration from her early youth, Indian heritage, while also pulling from the African-Arab influence she was raised around, chae continues to elegantly craft her own lane by reviving sounds from the 2000’s with interlacing sharp lyrical verses over bounce-heavy throwback beats.
