Biography

Jon Burks aka STATICtheMC is a hip-hop recording artist born and raised in Atlanta, GA. Christened the name Jonathan Allen Burks, Jr. though originally going to be named Shawn Carter Burks after rapper Jay-Z who was originally chosen as his Godfather before his birth. His father is The Originator Jaz-O who is famous for laying the foundation for Jay-Z’s career, with his 1989 single “Hawaiian Sophie” and being featured on The O’Jays “Have You Had Your Love Today”. As a kid, STATIC began song writing at the age of 7 and rapping at the age of 13; though he was hesitant to follow in his father’s footsteps. Inspired by The Notorious B.I.G. record “Suicidal Thoughts”; at the age of 13 he became a co-founder of a Brooklyn style rap group aptly named N.Y.G., or New York's Greatest, with three of his eighth grade classmates. STATIC soon found a producer in a long-time friend of his named Deion. This duo as STATICtheMC and PrimeTime eventually formed "Slick Innovation" in 2011. Later on the group released their first mixtape, entitled Common Sense, on April 7th, 2012. With great inspiration from artists such as Kendrick Lamar, J.Cole, & Dave Chappelle. STATIC is now in the process of releasing his second project, with the help of his engineer Jack Miller, his producer Prime, and his D.R.E.A.M. Team Homies.
