"TROY" is the musical alter ego of Troy Joris (°2001), Belgian producer, singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. His unique combination of trumpet, sax and vocals, complemented by playing other instruments such as piano, bass etc. helps him to organically translate his feelings into music. Music was introduced to him as a hobby at age 7 by the orchestra of his village. Playing the trumpet quickly becomes the distinctive phenotype of his musical DNA. He experiences the first years of his musical career exclusively as a trumpet player, supporting the likes of Bent Van Looy (Das Pop) and Lady Linn at Zaventem Proms't as one of the musical highlights of this chapter from which a hidden love for multi-instrumentalism bursts forth. As icing on the cake, he was named "laureate of culture 2017" of his village in 2018. A passion that turned into a form of therapy after the unexpected death of his father later that year. Ever since, hip-hop has been a medium to express his feelings musically and lyrically. As a result, a message connected to an emotion or vision is central to his music. His music can mainly be categorized under East Coast boom bap with jazz and soul influences along the lines of Statik Selektah, J Dilla etc. (producers) and Joey Bada$$, Saba, Gr€y etc. (artists). In addition to being a solo artist, TROY is also part of the innovative concept TROY x Koné where each musical layer of original songs is carefully constructed and performed live using a looping station.
