Biography

For Zoe Wees, music is more than just escapism and entertainment, it is the source of much of her strength. While the 21-year-old Hamburg native didn’t grow-up in an overtly musical household, she came to her favourite artists on her own, finding herself drawn to the empowered female pop singers of her teenage years. It’s these sounds that have influenced her unique strain of vulnerable, “dark pop” — which at the time of writing, has garnered her over 3 billion global streams and has led to a series of accolades, including her breakout single ‘Control’ reaching gold and platinum status across Europe and the US. For Zoe, writing and recording songs is her ‘Therapy‘, so much so that she’s named her debut album just that. She needs this form of therapy especially in difficult situations of fear and insecurity. After each session, she sits in an old car seat and then reflects. It is within this same routine the word ‘therapy’ took a lasting, special and musical meaning for Zoe in a slew of impactful, emotional songs.
