Biography

Studio Kind of Green is the moniker under which self-producing artist Carey Walton releases. Originally from New Zealand he now resides in Linlithgow, Scotland. SKoG was initially conceived of as banner under which to release the first album Rise and Fall. This collection of songs comprised recordings made in Edinburgh in the early noughties whilst playing in Kilo, as well as material written and recorded in Auckland whilst playing with Turtle Fritter. Since returning to Scotland in 2016 SKoG has continued to develop, finding new collaborators, and regularly releasing new material. Drawing inspiration from a vast sphere of influences, travel is a common motivator and the accessibility to European adventures has opened the door in recent years. SKoG is a multi-instrumental performer, mixing elements of rock, soul, funk, reggae, electronic and dance genres in full-sounding arrangements. Embracing non-standard time signatures, creating unique combinations of sounds and merging styles, SKoG is constantly striving to create something fresh and original. A fluid approach to song-craft, with a focus on melody, groove, collaboration and a journey of continuous evolution.
