Estancia Project

Biography

In 1999, brazilian artist Mariz produced his first songs, the “Guides” demo, with rather green poetry and sounds that reproduced the 80's New Wave artists. He moved to London in 2001, where he worked at a supermarket in Earl’s Court and would audition on his days off for music producers and theatre companies. Having returned to Recife after the September 11, he joined "Guides" demo producers, Leo D and William P and started working on "the 2001 demo" adding his beat box skills as basis for all the tracks. In 2002 he entered the cast of the soap "Esperança" in Rede Globo, beginning since then a long period of dedication to acting, leaving music aside. He traded Recife for Rio in 2006, working in theatre plays and as an English teacher, job that has always played an important role on his songwriting. In 2010 he started working as a Ronald Mcdonald impersonator. In this period he dedicated himself to studying singing at the Villa Lobos School of music and classic ballet. When the clown contract came to an end, he decided to get back to music. With theatre friends Pedro Gracindo and Alexandre Elias, and old partner Leo D, he started producing "Estancia Project" in 2019. This time with more mature poetry and sounds inspired by the carnival and June parties of Estância. The result was a unique album that fits somewhere between pop and folk.
