Marcus Nigsch is an award winning Austrian composer and multi-instrumentalist for contemporary classical music, film music, opera and contemporary ballet/dance. He studied composition as well as harmony and counterpoint at the Music University Zürich and the Conservatory in Feldkirch and graduated this studies with distinction. Compositions and works by Nigsch, which he created still during his studies under Herbert Willi, received awards, amongst others, his "Fröhjaar" for piano trio, which was awarded the international composition prize of the Franz-Josef Reinl Foundation and celebrated its debut performance at the University of Vienna. In the same year he was the winner of the Austrian Film Music Prize. In 2013, on behalf of the Vorarlberg Theatre, he composed, one after the other, two musical theatre works: the semi opera "Les Liaisons Dangereuses" by Pierre-Ambroise-François Choderlos de Laclos, as well as the Singspiel for chamber orchestra "The Great Theatre Of The World" by Pedro Calderón de la Barca. In the same year he composed the film music for "Die Mamba" for which he was nominated for the Austrian Film Prize 2015 in the category "Best Music".
