The first songs he sang came directly from African slaves that created Blues music. He was raised by his mother's family, they are a mix between 2 Native tribes of America and 2 Africans that were forced to America. One grandmother Cherokee and the other Black Foot and two African decedent males (origin unknown). His Father is Jamaican with afro cuban and Welch ancestry. Marquise felt imprisoned most of his early life. Even, when he moved to the ghetto at age 12 where he was free to go outside of his yard and have friends. It was while living in the ghetto that Marquise learned to understand the blues. Music helped him to stay happy throughout his day to day struggles. Marquise chose to be that positive voice and sound that helps people overcome thier sytruggles and now he is. "It's crazy man, I come from a strong resilient people, they created the most beautiful things while living under the worst circumstances. They created Blues and from Blues came Jazz, rock and roll, soul and r&b. Those are my ancestors that started this, I'm going to continue it."
