Broken Picture is a Trip Hop project led by Montreal-based producer Alex Diaby with the collaboration of several vocalists from around the globe. Inspired by the dark and soothing music of artists such as Sneaker Pimps, Hooverphonic and Morcheeba, Broken Picture’s goal is to immerse the listener into a cinematic and mesmerizing soundscape that is aimed to recreate the feel of uncertainty that occurs in thriller/neo-noir movies. Alex started making music at the age of 15 when his french teacher in high school asked him to recite a slam poet in front of his classmates. Since it was a form of art close to rap he decided to become a rapper. 7 years after he started rapping, he discovered jungle music, IDM and trip hop which make him crave for challenging music for the years to come. The same year he bought himself a Macbook (that included Logic Pro X) to record himself rapping. However, since he was heavily charmed by trip hop, he quickly realized that he could also compose his own music with his new acquired tool. He thought that composing music would give him more control on how the emotions and the story that the music would convey with or without lyrics.
