Luiza Soares, known as 1LUM3 (pronounced "eelume"), is a São Paulo-based artist, singer, and songwriter. She is both a musical persona and a duo when joined by the music producer LIEV. The first single, "the first untitled" (2017), is part of the EP "waters" (2018). With lyrics in English, her sound is defined within the Trip-Hop genre, a musical movement that emerged in the early 1990s. It combines elements from various genres such as downtempo, jazz, progressive rock, soul, and hip-hop. Influential artists in this genre include Portishead, Massive Attack, and Björk. 1LUM3 has established herself in both the Brazilian underground and mainstream rap scenes and collaborated on the album "Bluesman" (2018) by rapper Baco Exu do Blues, which was named the best Brazilian album of 2018 by Rolling Stone Brazil magazine. The song "Me Desculpa Jay-Z" achieved Diamond certification (with over 150 million streams). 1LUM3 is known for her bilingual repertoire and unique style that blends the abstract with the sensory, creating an immersive experience in the quest for connection, solace, and meaning in the midst of the chaos of modern life. 1LUM3 and LIEV joined forces to produce their first self-written song, "the first untitled", and decided to establish themselves as a duo for future productions/live performances. They manage to evoke a delicate yet obscure tone, making it not so straightforward to define their musical genre or the sensations evoked by their music.
