Sofia Grant is a vocalist, pianist and composer from London. Having spent three years honing her craft as an improviser and performer in Barcelona’s underground jazz scene, she returned to her hometown of London to carve out a path as a session vocalist and pianist, performing with UK jazz talents including Poppy Ajudha, Donna Thompson and PYJAEN. As a session musician, she has performed at iconic venues such as the Royal Albert Hall for the BBC Proms, Alexandra Palace for Later… with Jools Holland, Ronnie Scotts and Village Underground. 2023 sees the launch of her debut record, 'Extinction'. It offers a meditation on the themes of climate change, ecological collapse and our relationship with the natural world. Released on the 1st September on Jazz Refreshed, 'Extinction' marks Sofia’s first offering as a composer, arranger and producer - alongside a vulnerable and accomplished vocal performance. It wrestles with the impact of human ambition on the natural world, the loss of nature and even the extinction of life as we know it. With its intricate vocal harmonies, lyrical storytelling and delicate studio production, this debut is a stunning introduction - solidifying Sofia Grant as one to watch in 2023.
