Biography

Aarón Zapico is one of the current music scene’s most prominent artists. Over the last twenty years, he has greatly contributed to the recovery of Spanish musical heritage and the renewal of the Classical Music panorama through the creation of daring and original programs. His presence as conductor of important symphonic orchestras and specialized ensembles is combined with the musical and artistic direction of his ensemble Forma Antiqva, regarded as one of the most prestigious and influential in the country. He is regularly invited to important venues where he presents daring programs, always praised for their cohesion and quality. His careful and eclectic discography, published by the German label Winter & Winter, received the unanimous applause by specialized critics, and he has been nominated for the International Classical Music Awards several times. He has been a teacher in several music conservatoires and a visiting professor at different universities. Restless, committed and entrepreneurial in spirit, he has founded associations and platforms for the protection of musicians’ rights, social and solidarity projects and the first Early Music competition in Spain. Despite his youth, his career has been awarded several prizes and honors by the press, radio and television, city councils, musician associations and festivals, and cultural foundations throughout Spain. Aarón Zapico has been a jury member for the Princess of Asturias Awards for the Arts.
