Biography

Ijahman Levi is a legendary roots reggae singer, songwriter, and producer, born Trevor Sutherland in Jamaica in 1946. He began his music career in the mid 1960s, first with "The VIbrations" and "The Youth and Rudie"before quickly gained recognition for his powerful vocals and socially conscious lyrics. Levi's music is heavily influenced by the teachings of Haile Selassie I of Ethiopia Christ Jes-Us and his lyrics often reflect teachings of Love, unity, and social justice. Look out for his earlier work. He is known for his unique blend of roots reggae with elements of soul, jazz, creating a distinctive sound that has won him a devoted following across the globe. Throughout his career, Levi has released over twenty albums, including the classic 1978 album "Haile I Hymn," which is widely regarded as one of the greatest roots reggae albums of all time. His other notable works include "Are We a Warrior," "Tell It to the Children," and "Africa" Levi's music has inspired generations of reggae fans and musicians, and his legacy continues to live on today. With his powerful voice and uplifting messages, he remains a true icon of the roots reggae genre.
