Tijuana-born Lilia Margarita, the creative force behind Tlalli Roots, immersed in music from an early age, influenced by Rancheras and Mexican Folk Songs. Her musical journey includes a brief stint in classical piano lessons, a high school marching band phase, and a transformative encounter with The Beatles. Post-high school, Lilia delved into Roots Reggae Music, performing with a group of local friends. In 2015 she ventured into her solo project, Tlalli Roots. Starting as an acoustic all-female reggae band, the group evolved, sharing stages with icons like Gondwana and Alika. In 2017, Tlalli Roots underwent a final metamorphosis, with Lilia taking the reins as the sole frontwoman. Tlalli Roots burst back onto the scene in December 2019 with the debut single "Elegire," produced by Dylan Keawe and accompanied by a mesmerizing music video from Frame Take. The summer of 2021 witnessed the experimental soft-release of a bilingual 5-song debut EP. Summer 2022 through Spring 2023 Tlalli Roots performed at various prestigious venues in San Diego including "The Belly Up". After her much awaited 2023 release, "Flor De La Vida" , Tlalli Roots is back in the studio with Dylan Keawe this winter crafting her first full-length album. Now with a more polished sound with influences of hip-hop, argentinian reggae, and rock en español, Tlalli Roots is a musical force destined to endure. The saga continues, and the rhythm of Tlalli Roots is here to stay. 🎶
