Biography

Born and bred in Rome, Alessia is a singer, musician, songwriter and loop artist. For ten years she was part of the Boop Sisters swing group, releasing two albums, participating in major festivals in Europe and accompanying the well-known Italian musician and presenter Renzo Arbore in several television programmes. In 2001 she recorded her first album, PG Major 7, and opened concerts for the American artist Ursula Rucker, considered to be the ‘Neo Soul Poet’. 2015 saw the release of her second solo album, Synth o matic, an album that combines nu soul, jazz, hip hop and spoken word, and which boasts high-level collaborations such as that with jazz trumpeter Aldo Bassi and Nu Soul singer Jaguar Wright, a pioneer of the musical genre who has collaborated with Jay Z and The Roots, among others. The album was well received by critics and audiences, and Alessia then opened the concert of American artist Frank McComb at the Jazz Café in London. In 2014, she moved to London, where she performed at various venues (including the Tate Modern and the Victoria & Albert Museum) and in parallel led singing and vocal awareness workshops in schools, with private individuals and NGOs dealing with victims of domestic violence and international crime, as well as teenagers from disadvantaged backgrounds. In 2016 in London at the Tate Modern and more recently in 2022 for the Bologna Art City Festival, she collaborated with artist Tino Seghal as a musical performer, living sculpture, storyteller.
