Utopia Ensemble (BE), founded in 2015, brings together five singers with extensive experience in renowned ensembles. Specializing in 16th-century Flemish vocal polyphony, Utopia Ensemble focuses on a pure, transparent vocal style that highlights the intricate beauty of polyphony. Blending tradition with innovation, the ensemble combines years of expertise with a fresh approach to early music. Since its formation, Utopia has released four highly praised albums. Their debut, featuring Lamentations by Cristóbal de Morales, received international acclaim, as did their collaboration with the wind ensemble InAlto on Luther, the Noble Art of Music. In 2021, their album of music by Andreas Pevernage earned the prestigious Diapason Découverte, and their recording of works by Tielman Susato was awarded the Diapason d'Or in 2024. Utopia Ensemble performs across Europe, often bringing historical context into their concerts to engage audiences on a deeper level. Their performances invite listeners to not only enjoy the music but also to connect with the stories behind it, transforming the concert experience into a meaningful journey. As ensemble-in-residence at St. Paul's Church in Antwerp, Utopia continues to explore and promote the rich Flemish musical heritage through both performances and collaborations on cultural initiatives.
