Biography

SPOTIFY BIOGRAPHY
Ulrike Haage, composer, pianist, sound artist & radioplay author, is one of the most multifaceted artists in Germany today, who elegantly shifts between Jazz, Experiment & Classical Music. Since 2004 she has released highly respected Solo CDs, Sélavy (2004), Weisses Land (2006), in:finitum (2011), Maelstrom (2015), Stills (2018), Himmelsbaum (2020). Her audio pieces impressively show Haage's inspiring & ongoing involvement with artists in other disciplines such as film. The soundtracks for the documentaries Zwiebelfische, Goldrausch, Berlin 1945 - Tagebuch einer Großstadt as well as the music for Doris Dörrie’s movie Fukushima mon amour are all characterised by an almost imperceptible fusion with the visual.
Awards (i.a.): German Jazz Award (Albert-Mangelsdorff-Preis); North German Film Award (special music price); Documentary Filmscore Prize, Gema Music authors prize; Günther Eich prize 2022. „An adjective stands out: eclectic. Then, others come to mind; still, light, crystalline.“ „Ulrike Haage proves herself to be an extraordinary sound architect. Every single tone and sound possesses meaning, every moment of suspension integrates into the structure, every song is a piece of art.“ „Haage creates a maximum mood with a minimum of tones“ Latest releases: Rays of Hope (OST); Himmelsbaum (Solo Piano); Berlin 1945 - Tagebuch einer Grossstadt (OST); A Funeral March for the First Cosmonaut (Space Poem by Etel Adnan); Rebellinnen; Meine geniale Freundin.
