Biography

When The Earls of Leicester formed, their mission was to preserve and promote the legacy of bluegrass legends Lester Flatt & Earl Scruggs, in hopes of reviving the duo’s music for longtime admirers and introducing a new generation to their genre-defining sound. Within a year of releasing their self-titled debut, the Nashville-based six-piece surpassed their own expectations, winning a Grammy Award for ‘Best Bluegrass Album’ and earning six awards from the International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA). The Earls of Leicester are Jerry Douglas on Dobro and vocals, Shawn Camp on guitar and lead vocals, Charlie Cushman on banjo and guitar, Johnny Warren on fiddle and bass vocals, and Jeff White on mandolin and tenor vocals. Jerry Douglas is a 14-time Grammy Award winner, 3-time winner of the ‘CMA Musician of the Year’, and member of groundbreaking ensembles such as Alison Krauss & Union Station, Boone Creek, and Strength In Numbers. Shawn Camp has won ‘Male Vocalist of the Year’ twice from IBMA. He has also written hit songs for artists like Garth Brooks, Blake Shelton, and George Strait. Charlie Cushman is one of the most in-demand banjo players in Nashville for over 40 years. Johnny Warren is the son of Paul Warren who was a longtime member of the Foggy Mountain Boys. Jeff White is known in for his vocals, flat picking, and mandolin chops with artists such as Alison Krauss, Vince Gill, The Chieftains, Lyle Lovett and more.
