Classical Trumpeter and Gold Medal Global Music Award Winner Mary Elizabeth Bowden has been described by Gramophone Magazine as “brilliant” and “radiant in new repertoire for trumpet.” Bowden, a Yamaha Performing Artist, released her debut album “Radiance” on Summit Records and most recently, "Réverie" with the Kassia Ensemble. Bowden’s 2019-20 performance highlights include the premiere of her Vivian Fung commission, Fung’s “Concerto for Trumpet and Orchestra” with the Erie Philharmonic and Anchorage Symphony. Bowden is the 1st Prize winner of the 2012 International Women’s Brass Conference Trumpet Competition. She has performed as a soloist with the Peninsula Symphony, Laredo Philharmonic Orchestra, Croatian Army Wind Band, Festival Amadeus Strings, and many others. Bowden is a founding member of Seraph Brass and Chrysalis Chamber Players. She has collaborated in chamber music programs at the Marlboro Music Festival, Lakes Area Music Festival, The Banff Centre and at the Sydney Opera House. She is Professor of Trumpet at Shenandoah Conservatory. Bowden is currently Principal Trumpet of the Artosphere Festival Orchestra and a member of the Iris Orchestra and Richmond Symphony. She has also served as Principal Trumpet of New Zealand’s Auckland Philharmonia, Sarasota Opera Orchestra, the Daejeon Philharmonic in Korea and the Lucerne Festival Academy in Switzerland. Bowden studied at The Curtis Institute of Music and the Yale School of Music.
